Introduction
Brats are low in calories and high in protein, which makes them a great addition to your meal plan. But there’s no point in eating brats if they’re not cooked right! Here are four common ways to cook brats on the stove:
Boiling
In order to boil brats, you need to place them in a pot of water and bring the water to a boil. You can also use a pressure cooker for this process if you have one available. If not, don’t worry; we’ll cover other options below!
Boiling is one of the easiest methods for cooking brats because it requires no special equipment or preparation beyond what most people already have in their kitchen cabinets (or refrigerator). If you want more flavor than plain old water offers, try adding beer–it adds both flavor and tenderizes meats like pork shoulder or chicken thighs really well too!
Pan-Frying
Pan-frying is a great option for camping or grilling at home. It’s quick and easy, and you don’t have to worry about the brats falling through your grill grates like they might in an outdoor oven or smoker. The trick with pan-frying is to use enough oil to keep your sausages from sticking, but not so much that they become greasy or oily. You’ll want at least 1/4 inch of oil in your skillet before adding the sausages (or more if you’re cooking more than one).
Once all of this has been done correctly, it will take about 10 minutes for them to cook through–give or take depending on how thickly cut your brats are–and another 10 minutes for them to brown on both sides at medium heat
Grilling
If you’re grilling, preheat the grill to medium heat. Place the brats on their sides in a single layer and cook them for 20 minutes, turning them frequently. Spray with oil to keep them from sticking to the grill rack or pan.
Over a Campfire
If you’re cooking over a campfire, start with a hot fire. You want to get the temperature up between 250 and 300 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. Then turn them every few minutes until they are done, which should be about 15-20 minutes total. Once they are done, put them in a cooler and keep them warm until you are ready to eat them!
Brats are tasty.
Brats are delicious. They’re tasty, they’re mouthwatering and they make you feel like you’re eating the best food in the world.
But what if I told you there was a way to make brats even better? A way that would have people begging for more? Well, it’s true! If you cook them on your stovetop instead of grilling them over an open flame (or boiling them) then not only are they going to taste amazing but also look super cool when done!
